Astrid Anny Cardenas
November 16th, 1941 - September 10th, 2012
Astrid Anny Cardenas, formerly known as Astrid Bain, 70, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2012 with her family by her side. A funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Sarasota on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Born in Caracas, Venezuela on November 16, 1941 to Anny Cardenas-Kuypers and Antonio Cardenas, Astrid always held strong family bonds, especially with her brother, Guillermo Cardenas and his wife, Elvia. She married David Bain in 1961 and had four children. All of her children: David Bain, Ana Nowlan, Neil Bain, and Christian Bain were born in Venezuela. Astrid and her family moved to Houston, TX in 1977 where she committed to her children and provided them with love and nourishment. In 1982 she moved again with her family to Sarasota, FL where she lived for 30 years. In 2002, Astrid was sworn in as a United States Citizen. Her love and commitment to her children was a defining purpose of her life. She loved a houseful of children and enjoyed telling many stories of these early days of her family. Holidays were always especially wonderful occasions with her family gathered around to join in celebration. As her children grew up and formed their own families, Astrid was loved by her children’s spouses: Tina Bain, Robert Nowlan, Becky Bain, and Janet Bain. Astrid was fortunate to have 6 wonderful grandchildren: Christopher Ruscitto, David Ian Bain, Ian Bain, Annie Bain, Elizabeth Bain, Isabelle Bain and one great-grandchild, Olvia Bain. Astrid was a volunteer, and an employee for Doctor’s Hospital in Sarasota, FL. She worked for Doctor’s Hospital for over ten years and formed strong caring relationships with many patients and staff. Astrid leaves countless beautiful memories for her family and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, where she comfortably spent her last days. She will be missed by all of her precious family and cherished friends.
