Barbara "Barb" Diane Bacon

Barbara "Barb" Diane Bacon, 71, died May 14, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.She was born December 29, 1949 in Staples, Minnesota to Albert Kenneth and Iris LaVern (Gysland) Bacon.Barb served in the Army for fourteen years before being honorably discharged. She was a Vietnam veteran, was very involved in the Women's Army Corps Veterans' Association, and was a member of VFW Post 4051.Barb received a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from Purdue University. She was a lifelong federal employee and worked as a Veteran Representative at Pikes Peak Work Force Center, as well as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for twenty-three years.Barb loved her country and spent her life giving to others. She was a foster mother to over thirty kids over the course of her life.She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Iris Bacon.Barb is survived by her brothers, Dan Bacon and Larry (Denise) Bacon; sisters, Kathy (Matt) Gellings and Jan Bacon; sons, Levi, Joseph and Alex Bacon; family friend, Lee Ann Wade; and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation, 10:30AM-11:00AM, Funeral Service immediately following, 11:00AM, Tuesday, May 25, 2021, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.The Visitation and Funeral Service will be streamed live.
