Barbara McLaughlin, 66, a long-time resident of Tempe, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2024, surrounding by her loved ones.
Barbara was a loving daughter and dedicated caretaker of her parents, the late James and Sally McLaughlin. She is survived by her brother, James McLaughlin and wife Annette, and sisters, Patricia Brown, Mary Holdgruen and husband Bill, Noreen Kasper and husband Mark. She was proceeded in death by her beloved brother-in-law, Paul Brown. She was a fun and devoted aunt to her many nieces, nephews and great-nephews. She was known for her faith in God, her loyalty to her family and friends, and her love for animals which brought joy to her life – including her Shelty dog, Mac and Tuxedo cat, Oreo.
Barbara was born and raised on Long Island, New York. Not long after graduating from North Babylon High School she set out for Arizona, becoming part of the extended Kiefer clan, attending family gatherings and outings to the casino. She had a special bond with her cousin Diana, who was also a devoted caretaker during Barbara’s later years, along with her best friend and constant companion, Shannon. She was a kind and caring soul who always put the needs of others before her own. Barbara was also dedicated to her work, consistently receiving praise for her efforts and willingness to help others, as a long-time employee of Vemma Nutrition.
In her free time, Barbara enjoyed playing various games, and was known for her playfully competitive spirit, especially when it came to Wordle. One might say, if there were a Wordle puzzle to describe Barbara, the answer would be "LOVED"!
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a near future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Lost Our Home Pet Rescue in Tempe, AZ at https://www.lostourhome.org, a cause Barbara cared deeply about.
Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
