Barbara Ann Frey Otto transitioned peacefully to eternal life on August 24, 2019, at Tidewell Hospice in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Mrs. Otto was born on August 27, 1930, daughter of the late John O. Frey and Gertrude Danner Frey Wentz. She grew up in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, and was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from Temple University and began a career as a dental hygienist, meeting her future husband when he arrived in her chair for a cleaning and checkup. She married Theodore G. Otto Jr. on April 19, 1952, and became a homemaker and mother to their two sons. They lived in Newark, Delaware, until retiring to Nokomis, Florida, in 1990. Throughout her life, Mrs. Otto loved the Lord, her family, and her dogs. She volunteered in many roles at her church, garden clubs in both Delaware and Florida, the Venice Little Theater, and Meals on Wheels. After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe, making several visits to Oberammergau, Germany, to experience the village's traditional Passion Play. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Otto was predeceased by her husband and her brother, Monroe W. Frey. She is survived by her sons, Theodore G. Otto III (Stephanie) and Dr. John M. Otto (Carla); grandchildren, Sydney Hamway, Theodore IV, Grant, and Matthew Otto; sister-in-law, Margaret Frey; and a niece and nephews. Inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery, West Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 6310 Capital Drive, Suite 100, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202.
