Ben Allen Tittsworth
September 9th, 1945 - April 23rd, 2017
Ben Tittsworth, 71, of Gate City, went to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon (April 23, 2017) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was born in Scott County where he had lived the majority of his life. Ben was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Tittsworth truly showed the love of Jesus to each and every person he came in contact with, whether it was praying with them, lending a helping hand, or sharing the gospel. During his lifetime, he worked at Holliston Mills, Teamsters Union Local 549, and after he retired, was also a master logger. He had the heart of a faithful servant to everyone who knew him, no questions asked. Ben helped anyone and everyone with whatever he could in every way possible. Ben was a member and beloved deacon at Lynn Garden Baptist Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hazel Pratt Tittsworth; brothers, George Tittsworth and Charlie Tittsworth; a father-in-law, Walter Hurd. Ben Tittsworth is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Hurd Tittsworth; his daughters, Lisa Scott and husband, Sam, Marla Tittsworth and Shannon Stapleton; 4 grandchildren, Kayla Bishop, Ethan Scott, Elijah Scott, and Evan Scott; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Hurd; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Tittsworth; his brother-in-law, Jerry Hurd and wife, Rosalee along with several nieces and nephews. A Special thanks to Wellmont 3rd Floor SICU and Wilcox Hall 3rd floor staff. A visitation will be held on Friday (April 28, 2017) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lynn Garden Baptist Church. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday (April 28, 2017) at 7 p.m. with Pastor Rick Meade, officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday (April 29, 2017) at 10 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery with Rocky Blakely, Josh Tittsworth, Dale Bellamy, Clifton Horne, Roger Sampson, Bo Taylor, Cooper Garrett, and Rodney Darnell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Crusaders Sunday School Class, Lynn Garden Baptist Church Deacons, Jack May, Joe Stallard, Jack Cox, James Meade, Frank Smith, Mike Light, Bobby Bright, Danny Ward along with his fellow rook players from J. Fred Shelton's Store Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 to go in procession. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Lynn Garden Baptist Church, 301 May Ave. Kingsport, TN 37665, or to Southwest Virginia Partnership PO Box 145 Nickelsville VA 24271, or any charity of your choice. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Tittsworth family.
