Bernard Lawrence O'Donnell
June 24th, 1935 - July 19th, 2024
Bernard “Dutch” Lawrence O’Donnell age 89 formally of Lindenhurst, NY passed away on July 19, 2024, in Venice, FL. Larry was married to his wife Edna for 65 years. Larry was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne from July 1954 to 1957. During his time in the military, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Senior Parachutist badge. After the military Larry worked as a Sanitation Engineer to support his family.
Larry is preceded in death by his son Lawrence J. O’Donnell, and brother James O’Donnell.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Edna O’Donnell of Venice, FL; sons Lee (Rosette) O’Donnell of Holbrook, NY, and David (Jennifer) O’Donnell of North Liberty, Iowa; daughter Catherine (Anthony) Pinto of Venice, FL; daughter-in-law Ellen O’Donnell of Hawley, PA; sisters Lisa Feustel and Barbara O’Donnell; sister-in-law Irene O’Donnell; grandchildren Katie, LeighAnn, Kristen, Aaron, Terrence, Matthew, Marissa, Elena, Kael; great-grandchildren Isabella, Sheamus, Caiden, Eliana, Ryleigh, Jackson, Makenzie, Liam, Amelia.
The family will receive friends from 2-6 pm with the funeral service starting at 5:30 pm on Thursday, August 1st at Farley Funeral Home in Venice. Friends and family will meet at Sarasota National Cemetery on Friday, August 2nd at 1:30 pm for a graveside service with military honors.
