Berta Hicks
March 10th, 1936 - December 25th, 2012
Berta M. Hicks, 76, passed away peacefully at Beacon Place on Tuesday December 25, 2012. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Ray Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. Berta was born in Chatham County, NC on March 10, 1936 a daughter to Ira William Hicks, Sr. and Elma Thomas Hicks. She was a retired employee of 45 years from Cone Mills White Oak Plant, a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church and sang in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her sister; Mary Catherine Nicoll and brothers; Ira W. Hicks, Jr. and Larry Hicks. The family would like to thank Beacon Place for their wonderful care of our sister. Surviving are sisters; Versie Ackerman and husband Bill of Ohio, Andrea 'Andy' Hicks of the home and brothers; Alton Hicks and wife Letha of Greensboro, Stephen Hicks of the home. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405 or to Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Building Fund, 3235 Yanceyville St., Greensboro, NC 27406.
