Berta Hicks

Berta M. Hicks, 76, passed away peacefully at Beacon Place on Tuesday December 25, 2012. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Ray Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. Berta was born in Chatham County, NC on March 10, 1936 a daughter to Ira William Hicks, Sr. and Elma Thomas Hicks. She was a retired employee of 45 years from Cone Mills White Oak Plant, a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church and sang in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her sister; Mary Catherine Nicoll and brothers; Ira W. Hicks, Jr. and Larry Hicks. The family would like to thank Beacon Place for their wonderful care of our sister. Surviving are sisters; Versie Ackerman and husband Bill of Ohio, Andrea 'Andy' Hicks of the home and brothers; Alton Hicks and wife Letha of Greensboro, Stephen Hicks of the home. Several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
