Betty Lou Erickson
February 27th, 1938 - July 7th, 2024
Betty L. Erickson
Of Longmont, CO
Betty L. Erickson was born on February 27, 1938 in Chicago, IL to C. Harry and Clara (nee Rubelman) Erickson. She died of natural causes on July 7, 2024 at her Longmont home that she loved dearly.
Betty came to Boulder in the 1960s to earn her Master’s in Nursing from the University of Colorado and fell in love with the area. She sought out ways to practice her craft as a Registered Nurse specializing in critical care in many non-traditional work settings. For example -- in addition to serving those in Boulder-area hospitals -- she also traveled the world to provide medical care as Head Nurse on Semester at Sea voyages as well as to those in far-away places like New Zealand, Australia, the Antarctic and the South Pole.
Her interests and hobbies included reading, kayaking, enjoying nature (especially birdwatching and the study of wild Elk), world-wide travel, cross-country skiing, and music appreciation. She was also known to drink a ‘stinger’ from time-to-time. Her favorite thing to do was to spend quality time with her many friends in the Boulder/Longmont, CO and Turpin Meadow, WY communities.
Betty is survived by her brother Dr. John (Marilyn) Erickson; she is also survived by her niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her soul mate – her twin sister Barbara Ayers as well her parents.
Betty will be remembered as her life is celebrated by family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to one of Betty’s favorite organizations – the Boulder, CO Nature Conservancy.
