Betty Jager
January 27th, 1930 - September 25th, 2019
Betty Jane Jager entered heaven’s gates on September 25, 2019. Born January 27, 1930, she is survived by daughters Cheri (Rod), Diane (Jeff), Peggy (Mike), Jonette, son Clint (Tammie Jo) and son-in-law Jack, 14 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. Surviving also are her sisters Eloise, Evelynn, Bernadine, Kathy, and brothers Laverne and Kenny. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband John, beloved daughter Linda, great-grandson Kaden, infant sister Doris, and brothers Richard, Warren and Eugene. As the oldest girl in such a large family, Betty’s life was filled with responsibility and caring for others which she carried continued her entire life. She could do anything and honestly could do it better than anyone else. It was when she was a senior in high school that she met the handsome John Jager at Asbury Methodist Church. She asked him to a Ladies Choice Dance at that church and they were together from that point on with Betty tirelessly caring for him to his passing. She was the pillar of not only his world but the whole family. Betty always had projects going. She crocheted, knitted, painted, played the organ, grew beautiful plants and flowers year-round, upholstered, and designed and made the most magnificent wedding gowns. She left a legacy of love in those wedding gowns she made to perfection. Countless hours spent hand sewing crystals and beads, all the while for many years dealing with painful rheumatoid arthritis. Never complaining, it was her labor of love. She blessed countless friends and family with her meticulously hand-painted porcelain dolls. Each were dressed in hand-sewn clothes and finishing details that were a marvel. Many were made to resemble one of her girls. Hard work was simply a part of her life and she shared her many gifts with selfless love and devotion. Many years were devoted to caring for her grandchildren, always teaching that they could do anything they put their hearts into. She mastered the art of controlled chaos having at the least 7 children in her house on a daily basis. She always encouraged them to use their creativity and imagination leading them to be goal driven leaders in their adult lives. Her grandchildren were her world and she took great pride in all their accomplishments. Even up until her last days she continued to babysit her great grandchildren. All the family begged for her pancakes, bacon and homemade blueberry syrup which to this day no one has been able to duplicate. No matter how much work or how exhausted she might be, she always put others first. Over the years, the Jager home was a place of refuge for so many. Friends and family always knew they were welcome. The doors were always open. The commencement of the holidays always encapsulated the warmth she created in her home. Christmas brunch with the entire family was always momentous and welcoming. Sitting in the Jager living room and opening presents person by person, with a gift from Betty to each and every one of her family members. Every person in that room knew they mattered to her. It was less about the present and more about her presence. Those moments filled her heart with so much joy and it continues to trickle down her family tree. The roots she gave us all can withstand all the turmoil we would face. Though for many years she suffered with debilitating arthritis, her hands never were idol. She had such strength and determination that even if meant going down the stairs backwards, she was not going to let it stop her or take away her independence. You see, she was never going to grow old. She led by example. There was never a job too large or too small that she would not tackle. There was never a baby she was unable to hold and never a moment of joy in her life that she would let get by her due to her physical inabilities. She was a living example of resiliency. Mom, Grandma, you gave so much and asked for so little in return. Thank you for always being there for us, for teaching us, listening to us, helping and forgiving us, loving us, and always, always paving the way for us. You were simply the BEST! You will be missed every single day and are forever in our hearts. Services will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at The , 3501 W. 104th Avenue, Westminster, CO, at 10:30 to be followed with burial at Fort Logan Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorium may be sent to “Caruso Family Charities” at 9138 West 6th Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80215
