Betty Ruth Leatherman
April 3rd, 1940 - October 31st, 2019
Betty Ruth Leatherman, 78, of Blythewood, SC, died Thursday, October 31, 2019. Born in Byrdstown, Tennessee, April 3, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Johnie Spencer Mullins and Lou Taylor Mullins. Mrs. Leatherman enjoyed studying history and researching her family’s genealogy. She also loved to crochet, sharing her handmade treasures with both family and friends. Mrs. Leatherman was the matriarch of her family and was affectionately referred to as “Great-Great” by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Blythewood Seventh-Day Adventist Church and regularly attended until a decline in her health. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Ray Leatherman; son, Richard Allen Leatherman; grandson, Linden Leatherman; and six siblings. Survivors include her children, Bobbi L. Goodman (Jerry), Carrell R. Davidson (Leo), Marvin Leatherman, and James M. Leatherman (Belinda); as well as 15 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. The funeral service for Mrs. Leatherman was held on Tuesday, November 5th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia SC with Pastor Charlie Young and Pastor Robert Fekete officiating.
