Beverly L. Hartzell

Beverly Koestler Hartzell, age 93 of St. Paul passed away peacefully on September 30, 2021. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, GEORGE HARTZELL, on June 13, 2021; parents Everyl and Bernice Koestler; siblings John, Larry, Duane, Marlon, LaVonne, Sharon, Margery and Dolores. Beverly was born on April 6, 1928 in Ledyard, Iowa where she grew up on a farm with her nine brothers and sisters. When she was 18 years old she moved to St. Paul to attend the Ancker School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. She worked as an RN in OB/Pediatrics her entire career at Ancker/Ramsey/Regions Hospitals in St. Paul. She loved nursing and was proud of all her career achievements. Beverly was a master gardener and tended to over 100 different annuals and perennials, including a poppy bed that grew tall and glorious year after year. Both Beverly and George were faithful and devout parishioners of Christ Episcopal Church. Beverly is survived by sister Jean Beenken; daughters Robyn (Steven Loop) Hartzell, Jennifer (James) Brau, and Jody (Michael) Huba; grandchildren Sam, Elliot, Colin and Madison; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A private burial will be held for Beverly and George later this month. Donations in their names can be made to the Christ Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 7305 Afton Road, Woodbury, MN 55125. The family extends their sincerest gratitude for the compassion and care provided by the staff at Sunrise of Edina, St. Croix Hospice, and pastor Anna Doherty of Christ Episcopal Church.
