Blythe Carter, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law & sister, passed away January 29, 2024, leaving a legacy of deep love, amazing strength, warmth & deep kindness for others and so many cherished memories. Everyone who met Blythe instantly loved her, she was a person that you would pray that you could emulate and left a great impact on everyone she met. Blythe passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Blythe was born in Drain, Oregon October 2, 1921 to Mary and Stanley W. Christianson and was the oldest among her 4 siblings, sister's Fay, Vivian, Phyllis and Donna. During Blythe's childhood she lived in Oregon & Canada. After being married her family lived in Eugene, Oregon.
Blythe was the devoted wife of Stanley J. Carter, and together were married 55 years when Stanley passed away in 1999. They were married February 18, 1945 in Eugene, Oregon at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Blythe & Stan had 2 children, Sandy & Kathy, 2 grandchildren, Andrea & Teresa, 1 great grandchild, Spencer & 3 son-in-laws Bill & Ken & Dennis. Blythe is survived by her daughter, Kathy, son-in-laws, Bill, Ken & Dennis, 2 granddaughter's Andrea & Teresa, great grandson, Spencer and sister's Phyllis, Donna & several nieces and nephews. After her husband passed Blythe met a friend, Bob from many years earlier and their wonderful friendship took them traveling to Hawaii, on cruises, wonderful bus charters to the wine country, National Parks and many other destinations.
During Blythe's life she worked at the Eugene Fruit Growers, J.C. Penny & First Inter-State Bank. She enjoyed working & interacting with co-workers and people she met during her career. She worked very hard raising her family always putting her family first. She was a great cook, loved to sew for her daughters & herself and garden. Stan & Blythe loved to dance and if you dropped in to see them you might find them dancing in their family room or on the patio. They were members of a local Square Dance club enjoying the comradery of the members.
Blythe was truly a gift from God, a treasure to her family and friends and will be forever be missed by family and friends. Forever in our hearts. 102 years of a life well lived.
