Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Bonnie Townsend
July 10th, 2021
Bonnie Lee (Colbey) Townsend, 67, of Venice passed away on July 10, 2021. Born on January 16, 1954 to R. Peter Colbey and Mary Colbey in Dunkirk, NY, she was the only girl out of three children. If you asked anyone who knew Bonnie, they would tell you above all she loved her family. She would talk on the phone or communicate via her computer to make sure she was up to date with everyone. She also loved her four-legged companion Rambo. After completing high school, she went in to the family business, first at Why Not dress shop in Fredonia, NY and then later to Mary's Memories Antique Shop in Venice, FL alongside her mother. Bonnie had a great passion for antiques, especially antique jewelry. She helped her mother run her local store here in Venice for many years. She would go to different auctions and estate sales to help hunt and procure the best of the best antiques for the store. Once they were back at the store, she would be arranging them for display and make sure she was up to date on all the information about the items to best assist their customers. Bonnie was very passionate about old classic movies. She would watch them over and over, and could quote her favorites. She was always the one to have on your trivia team when the topic of movies was up. Bonnie's love for the arts could also be seen in her love for music, she would listen to all kinds of music. She loved listening to it and talking about the artist and lyrics. She was active in many Facebook groups with other music enthusiasts. Bonnie is survived by her beloved brothers: Robert (Karen) Colbey of South Wales, NY, David (Pauline) Colbey of Utica, NY. As well as by her nephews: Corwin Colbey of Watertown, MA, Peter Colbey of South Wales, NY, Kyle Colbey of Horseheads, NY and Keith Colbey of Utica, NY, as well as several cousins. Bonnie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger Townsend. As well as by her mother Mary, stepfather Don Reardon, father R. Peter Colbey, stepmother Sylvia Colbey, nephew Bleys Colbey, as well as by her grandparents. Private services will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please consider making donations in Bonnie's honor to the American Diabetes Association.
