Brenda Whitehurst

Brenda passed away peacefully on August 26, 2021 under the care of The Villages FL Cornerstone Hospice, after a ten and one-half year battle with cancer. Brenda and her husband George (married 56 years) retired to The Villages in 2004 from Hampton, VA. Brenda was raised in Newport News, VA and graduated from Newport News High School in 1964. She and George were high school sweethearts and next door neighbors before their marriage in 1964. Brenda was a wonderful mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a shopper extraordinaire whose philosophy was that it wasn't a matter of cost, but how much you saved. She was a fantastic craftsperson who excelled in sewing, knitting, embroidery, cross stitch, quilting, beading, card making, cake decorating, scrapbooking, wreaths and gnomes. Brenda is survived by George and two daughters, Tina Stone and husband Steve of Clovis, NM, Tammy Russ and husband Shane of Cumming, GA and two granddaughters, Danielle Whitehurst of Atlanta, GA and Cameron Russ of Cumming, GA.
