Burton Samuel Bartlett, age 79, of Venice, FL, passed away on October 3, 2019. He was born in Chicago, IL to William and Regina Bartlett on November 22, 1939. Burt was raised in Michigan City, IN, was a graduate of Elston High School and Purdue University. During his early years, Burt was a paperboy for the Michigan City News-Dispatch. He worked as a pharmacist in Indianapolis and Virginia, moving to Florida in 2017. Burt was a US Navy veteran. He was fond of fishing and playing Bingo in his spare time. Surviving family members include his daughter, Juliea DeSteno of Columbus, GA; son Richard Burton Bartlett of Indianapolis; sister Eve Nortman of Hillsborough Beach, FL; brothers William of Nokomis, FL, Merlyn of Destin, FL, and Timothy of Michigan City, IN; grandchildren Zachary Martin, Richard Burton Bartlett II, Kylee Bartlett and Samantha Bartlett. Burt was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Ella Bartlett. A graveside service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Monday, October 21st, at 12:30 pm. The family would like to thank the Gardens of Venice and Tidewell Hospice for the care they provided. Memorial donations can be directed to TideWell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
