Byron D. Carpenter, age 81, of Venice, FL, passed away on June 8, 2017. He was born on May 31, 1936 to Martha (nee Pennell) and Raymond Earnest Carpenter in Lewisville, OH. He moved to Venice in 1969, coming from Mount Vernon, OH. Byron was a building contractor for Carpenter Contractor. Byron is survived by his wife JoAnn Carpenter of Venice, FL; children Elizabeth Jean Hoag of Canton, GA, Michelle Sauter of Venice, FL, Keith Carpenter of Venice, FL, D.J. Tompkin of Nokomis, FL, and Thomas Ferguson of Nokomis, FL; sisters Ruth Ileen Early of Marietta, OH and Anna Lee Piatt of Marietta, OH; brother Wallace Raymond Carpenter of Lewisville, OH; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, June 16th at 11:00am at Christ United Methodist Church in Venice with a graveside to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church at 1475 Center Rd, Venice, FL 34292. Arrangements are being handled by Farley Funeral Home Venice.
