C.C. Reisdorph
March 27th, 1924 - January 2nd, 2019
C.C. Reisdorph died on January 2, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 93. He was born March 27, 1924 to Frank Edgar and Blanche Sophia (Morris) Reisdorph in rural Houghton, South Dakota. He was married to his beloved wife, Bethel (Harm), for seventy-three years.C.C. was a farmer, a business owner, and a commodities broker. He owned and operated a lumber yard in Ellendale, North Dakota, just over the South Dakota border from his farm. He also owned an earth-moving business, operating heavy equipment to build roads, an airport, stock water dams and lagoons. He became a commodities broker at age 53, working with his son Steve, until his retirement at age 80. He continued to follow trends in the commodities markets for the rest of his life.C.C. and Bethel lived on their family farm near Frederick, South Dakota, and later in a home in Aberdeen, South Dakota, before they settled in Colorado Springs in 2009. At the time of his death, C.C. and Bethel were residents at the Bonaventure Senior Center in Colorado Springs.C.C. was a man of many interests. He was private pilot who owned and flew Cessna aircraft. He wrote and published two books. He repaired watches and old clocks. His children will remember growing up in a home with thirty clocks; many chiming on the hour, half-hour, and quarter-hour. C.C. could make, modify, or fix anything around the farm and house, but not always in the most elegant fashion. He used nails, wires, toothpicks and duct tape - whatever was at hand - to complete his home projects over the years. He was a fan of cowboy poetry and could recite poems and sing ditties learned early in life, even though he couldn't really carry a tune. He was known for his lifelong fashion of western shirts, cowboy boots, Stetson hats and bolo ties.C.C. was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers, three sisters; one daughter, Kristine; and one grandchild, K.J. Burleson. He is survived by his wife of seventy-three years, Bethel Reisdorph; sons, Steven (wife Golda) Reisdorph, and Bruce (wife Shirley) Reisdorph; daughter, Georgia Burleson; sons, Kent (wife Jennifer) Reisdorph, and Rick (wife Nichole) Reisdorph; daughter, Kara Ganje (husband Robb); son-in-law, David McCulley (husband of his deceased daughter, Kristine); and three sisters, Jeanne Miller, Julia Jury, and Marjorie Olson. He also left twenty-one grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and too many nieces and nephews to count.C.C. was a man of faith and actively supported the churches he attended over the years. While in the lumber business, he would provide building materials, at cost, to help small congregations build a new church. He even traveled to the Philippines to oversee the construction of a church and school. He was loved and admired by friends, neighbors, business associates, fellow churchmen and churchwomen, and companions in his senior living center. Ever faithful, at the time of his death, he said, "Jesus awaits. Open the gates."
