WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral services for Calvin Feaster, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at First Baptist Church of West Columbia, officiated by Reverend Bill Drees and Reverend Lonnie Shull. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Feaster's grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class and grandson, Peyton Feaster. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of West Columbia, P.O. Box 4898, West Columbia, SC 29171. Mr. Feaster passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013. Born in Saluda, SC, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Feaster, Sr., and Rosa Lee Corley Feaster. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia. Mr. Feaster was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, where he served in the South Pacific on the Minesweeper USS Inflict; he retired from SCE&G where he worked as a coach operator. He was a member of the American Legion Post #130; he loved Clemson football and Clemson baseball. Surviving is his loving wife, Hazel Dean White Feaster of West Columbia; step-daughter, Deborah Stender (DuWayne) of Leesville; sons, Dean Feaster (Jo) of Greenville, Robby Feaster (Diane) of West Columbia, Benjamin Feaster (Ashleigh) of West Columbia; step-son, Michael Young of Florence; brothers, Bo Feaster of West Columbia and Ralph Feaster of Columbia; 11 grandchildren, Katie Feaster, Sarah Feaster, Crystal Fenstermaker, Amy Stender, Jason Feaster, Darrell Feaster, Seth Feaster, Zachary Feaster, Andrew Stender and Ryan Stender; great grandchildren Emma Hughes, Halie Hughes, Hunter Hughes and Stella Feaster. Mr. Feaster was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Taylor Feaster; grandchild, Maddison Feaster; brothers, Larry Feaster and Hubert Feaster; and sisters, Susie Mae Schumpert, Betty Turner, Mattie Bell Chapman and Novice Silk.
