DAVENPORT - Candace McDowell Saldana, 57, of Davenport died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from cancer. She was born March 31, 1956 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to Carl and Shirley (Alverson) McDowell. Mrs. Saldana was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was a bus driver for the Polk County School District and was known for her intense love for her job. She was predeceased by her son Carlos "Nicky" Portillo and brother Kevin McDowell. She is survived by her husband of 32 years Antonio; son Anthony (Elaine) McDowell of SC; daughters Angel and Lucy Portillo of Davenport; Brother Terry (Debbie) McDowell of SC; and grandchildren Kelcie, Jessica, Alissa, Phillip, Bebe, Yesina, Anizavel, Jasmine, Chelly, Mickey and Yaneli. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 3-5 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care Haines City. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church in Haines City. Condolences may be sent to oakridgefuneralcare.com.
