Carolyn Hallman Brazell, 82, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away August 11, 2024, at her home in Columbia, South Carolina. She was born on February 17, 1942, in Eastover, South Carolina to Hilda (Hallman) Hutto and Sidney Reynolds. She was raised by her stepfather, Cecil Hutto and her grandparents, William and Nettie Hallman.
Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, sister and amazing worker. She cared for her son Paul “Glen” Brazzell, Jr., teaching him independence, self-assurance and confidence. When she was not with her family, Carolyn worked in many different fields. She started in retail, working her way up from floor assistant to General and Interim manager for Stuarts Dress Shop. Following her retail career, Carolyn spent many years working for the state and state government in many facets including the Highway Department, LRADAC or the Lexington Richland Alcohol, Drug Abuse Council as well as DAODAS, Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Service. Carolyn was also selected to be on the Governers Task Force for Emergency Management. When she was not working, she enjoyed trips to the beach with family, cross stitching, gardening and cooking. She was strong in her faith, a devout follower of Jesus Christ and was an active member with the Living Church of God. Her kind and wise demeanor will be missed by those she loved and those that loved her.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Paul Glen Brazell, Jr.; sisters, Linda Hite, Vicki Sosbee, Ruthie Hutto; a brother, David Hallman; and one uncle, Charles “Buck” Hallman.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Paul Glen Brazell; a sister, Kaye H. Jordan; and her beloved fur baby Rocky, her Tibetan Spaniel.
A graveside funeral service will be at Olympia Cemetery, 511 Granby Lane, Columbia, SC 29201, on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 3:00PM. Pallbearers will be her nephews and nieces. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
The Family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Prisma Heart Hospital and the Prisma Hospice Staff for their kind and compassionate care for the last seven months.
