Carolyn Helene Staros, 89, of North Port, Florida, passed away November 6, 2017 in Port Charlotte, Florida. Born in Bellmore, New York on December 10, 1927, she was the fifth of five children born to Ida Mae (Zimmerman) and Lawrence E. Frank, Sr. Carolyn was a graduate of Mepham High School in Bellmore and she married Anthony Staros of Freeport, New York on January 19, 1952. She was a homemaker, antiques dealer and loving mother of three children. The family resided in East Meadow, New York and Northport, New York. Prior to moving to North Port, Florida in 1989, Carolyn resided with her sister Ruth and brother-in-law Louis in northern Vermont. She was preceded in death by her parents and by siblings Lawrence E. Frank, Jr., Leonard Frank, Margaret Stavish and Ruth DeGennaro. Survivors include sons Paul (Linda) Staros of Lincoln, Nebraska, Philip Staros of Islip, New York, daughter Cristan Staros of Port Charlotte, Florida; grandchildren Julian (Anna) Staros of Owings Mills, Maryland, Andrea Staros of Lincoln, Nebraska and Alexandra Staros of Islip, New York; great-grandchildren Rayner, Hope and Evabelle Staros of Owings Mills, Maryland, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday December 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Bellmore Funeral Home, 2340 Jerusalem Avenue, North Bellmore, New York, followed by a 12:30 luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association will be greatly appreciated.
