Funeral services for Carrol William Carraway, 77, of Lexington, will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Pastor Jewell Jeffcoat will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jamie Perry, William Perry, Keith Jumper, Sonny Carraway, Terry Sweat and Mark Fernell. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Whitworth and Dustin Whaley. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the funeral home. Mr. Carraway passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015. He was born in Richland County to the late Alvin and Rena Browder Carraway. Carrol was a great man who honorably served his country in the US Air Force. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who never met a stranger and made an impact on every life that he touched. Carrol genuinely cared about others and loved life. He was a painter of great skill, and was a godly man who was dedicated to his church. He is survived by his daughters, Kay Perry (Jimmy) of Lexington, Kathy Lee (Richard) of West Columbia, Robin Howard (Rick) of Lexington; son, Haskell Day of West Columbia; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Sonny Carraway (Joyce) of Columbia and sister, Daisy Grant of West Columbia, and a large and loving extended family. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years, Doris Day Carraway; 7 brothers and sisters; 1 great grandchild and 2 great-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 107 Westpark Boulevard, Columbia, SC 29210, or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Westside Holiness Church, 527 Augusta St, West Columbia, SC 29169.
