Catherine Lavin

Catherine Regina (Gallagher) Lavin (Age 96) “Kay” of Venice, Florida, died peacefully on December 12, 2020, at home. She is survived by her children, Mary Lavin McCann (Kevin), Cathie Lavin Salipante (Robert), Aileen Lavin (Steve Hill), Kevin Lavin (Mora Solano), and Joanne Gallagher Lavin. Kay is predeceased by her beloved husband Francis P. Lavin, Sr. of 46 years, her son, Francis P. Lavin, Jr. and granddaughter, Megan Lavin. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth Gallagher, and sister of Margaret Gallagher, Marie O'Brien, Grace Relken and Elizabeth Cassidy, all deceased. She was always happy to be known as one of the ""Gallagher Girls"" by her many nieces and nephews. In addition to being the loving mother of five children, she was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Her unselfish love for her family will always be admired and appreciated by all. Kay will be remembered not only for her devotion to her family, but her religion as well. Kay and Frank raised their children in New Hyde Park, NY as active members of the Notre Dame Parish family before moving to Bay Village, Ohio. After retiring to Venice, Florida, she became an involved member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and was known as one of ""Charlie's Angels"", a tribute to her service to Father Charles Mallon, the founder of the retreat center. Services will be in New York where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Frank, at Calverton Cemetery after a funeral mass at Notre Dame in New Hyde Park. The date has yet to be determined.
