Cecelia Mae Anderson, 91, of Ranier, Minnesota died on Friday, February 24, 2006 at the Ranier Roost Care Facility. She was born May 20, 1914 in Duluth to John and Juanita (Tranah) Murphy. Her family, early settlers of the Grand Marais area, were active in public service and business. She spent her childhood there and graduated from Grand Marais High School in 1931. She married Frank Anderson on September 22, 1934 in Grand Marais. They spent their early years living in various ranger stations and C.C.C. camps in northern Minnesota while Frank worked as a forester with the Superior National Forest. They moved to Cloquet in 1945. After her husband's death in 1969, Cecelia worked as a cook at the Leech Elementary School for a year and then worked for Spies Super Valu Grocery in Cloquet as the head book keeper until retiring in 1986. She moved to the Kallio Apartments in Orr in 2000. Throughout her active life she enjoyed camping, dancing, bowling, golfing, playing cards, and reminiscing about her early days on the North Shore (bush). Celia was always the gracious hostess and lived to entertain her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; brothers, John and Steve Murphy; sisters, Rose Raff, Juanita Anderson Carter Solem, and Margaret Flaherty; and her son, Frank Anderson, Jr. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Katherine (Ken) Perala of Ash Lake, Minn.; sister, Lillian Anderson of Grand Marais; daughter-in-law, Carol Anderson of Alpena, Mich.; grandchildren, Suzanne Perala, Robyn (Ken) Smith, Kevin (Mary) Anderson, Mary Perala (Terry Bounds), Debbie (Paul) LaBelle, and Jon (Mie) Perala; and great-grandchildren, Mathew & Gabriel Smith, Molly & Alex Anderson, and Jamie & Erin LaBelle. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. MEMORIAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cloquet. Lunch and fellowship will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Cloquet where she was a member.
