Cecil Oliver Falls Jr.
January 11th, 1927 - December 18th, 2018
Obituary Cecil Oliver Falls, Jr., lived from January 11, 1927 to December 18, 2018, one month shy of his 92nd birthday. He lived a good life, born in Denver, Colorado, and lived on Fillmore Street with 5 siblings. His mother, Mamie, and father, Cecil, preceded him in death. Only one sibling, Arlis, remains alive. Cecil joined the U.S. Navy, at age 17, to fight in World War II. He was sent to fight in the worst naval battle in history, the Battle of Okinawa. He didnt talk about it. We only found out about that a few years ago and we got him to talk a little about it. He said it was awful! He ran the boats that transported the US Marines to the shores of the battleground. In 1946, Cecil came home and married his sweetheart, Loretta. They had three daughters, Karen, Joy and Doris. He later had 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He became a machinist at Union Pacific Railroad, then went to work for Rocky Flats as a Tool & Die Maker for 35 years. He & Loretta retired from Rocky Flats in 1992 and enjoyed cruising. Loretta preceded Cecil in death. He took his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren on many cruises. He took his sister, Ludelle, on the one and only cruise of her lifetime, to Alaska. Cecil could fix anything, build anything, do anything he set his mind to; he was so handy. He upholstered furniture, fixed cars, built their first house, installed irrigation systems, installed plumbing, built fences, planted his own lawn & gardens, etc. He once dug a basement, under his familys home, cemented it from the inside & built bedrooms, a playroom, a laundry room, a pantry and workroom for his family. He was superman to his family! Living an active life, Cecil continued cruising with his lady friend, Barbara. He was active in the Silver Sneakers community and will be missed by many friends and family. He was known to be quiet and strong. He was so loved and will be well-remembered by so many. A celebration of life will be held in January 2019. In lieu of flowers, help a veteran in need.
