Charles Hunt
August 22nd, 1957 - September 23rd, 2014
Charles (Charlie, Chuck, Papa) Martin Hunt died September 23rd 2014 at Presbyterian/Saint Luke’s in Denver, Colorado after a two year fight with leukemia. He was surrounded by family and friends. It was a gorgeous fall day. Virtually no clouds in the sky and it still found a chance to rain for a few minutes. We invite you to join us as we celebrate his life at the Athenian Restaurant 15350 E Iliff Ave, Aurora, CO 80013 on the 26th of September 2014 at 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, our family is asking for donations to the Leukemia Research Foundation (https://www.allbloodcancers.org/donate). – Under Gift Information please select “In Memory Of” and fill in Charles Hunt. – Under “Send Gift Notification To” make it to Peggy Hunt and include a short message if you’d like. – Under “Send Gift Notification By” please select “By Mail” and kindly use the address 3006 South Idalia St. Aurora, CO 80013 Thomas Wayne Hunt was the man responsible for giving us our last two years with Chuck. Through the gracious donation of his bone marrow, he helped him in his fight with leukemia and gave us all so many more wonderful memories with him. We’d also like to thank the incredible help given to Charlie during his fight by his friends and co-workers at the Denver Colorado Bulk Mail Center. For the last two years, they have donated time off hours to Charlie to help keep his position and benefits intact. The impact of all these selfless acts over such a long time has astounded our family and will never be forgotten. Nothing I write below will be able to properly do justice to Charlie Hunt. Chuck was a man who never thought of himself first; even when he probably should have. He laughed long, hard and slow – like a slow motion Santa Clause. He loved his family and friends; and would turn his world upside down if anyone needed him. It was his selfless manner that spoke the loudest and will be remembered the fondest. There wasn’t much he could get his hands on that he couldn’t fix, and he was always tinkering with something. He loved his Harley’s, rock n roll, gaming and sci-fi. He could herd cats and babies; who I think were attracted to the serenity of his spirit. He is preceded by his Wife, Peggy Jo Hunt Mother, Sharon Ann Thurgood Father, Charles Marion Hunt Siblings: Thomas Wayne Hunt, Lloyd Vincent Hunt and Denice Hutch Nieces, Kristina Van Veen, Jennifer Beasley Brother and Sister in-law: Mason Ramsey and Judy Neville Daughter and Son in-law: Priscilla and Sean Durkin Born in Edinburgh, Scotland and raised in East St. Louis Illinois. Chuck served 20 years in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force he got on with Post office at the Bulk Mail Center in Denver, Colorado. Chuck brought simplicity to complication and a path through the impossible. He didn’t pretend to have all the answers, but found delight in a challenge. And now he watches over all of us.
