Charles Q. Lafferty, 83, of Venice, FL died March 14, 2006. He was born September 5, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Venice in 1982 from Houston, TX. Mr. Lafferty was retired from Gulf Oil where he served a Director of Export Traffic & Purchasing Department. He was a highly decorated Navy Pilot during WWII, where he flew 93 missions from aircraft carriers in the Pacific. He was the Treasure of the Navy Pelican Club in Sarasota; member of the American Legion in Venice; and a member of the Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. Mr. Lafferty was a graduate of Kent State University in Ohio. Mr. Lafferty is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane Lafferty of Venice, FL; 3 sons Michael of Nokomis, Charles & Joseph both of Cranford, NJ; 3 grandchildren;; sister Elizabeth McGregor of Pittsburgh, PA. Funeral services will be held in Pittsburgh, PA. A Celebration of Life will be held in Venice at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Charles Lafferty’s name to your favorite charity.
