Charles A Rossi Sr

Charlie Rossi, 87, of North Port passed away February 3, 2022. He was born July 14, 1934, in Mount Airy North Carolina to Palmiro Rossi and Carrie Rossi who had 4 children. He had 2 sisters and 1 brother, Faye, Ronald and Ann. Charlie moved to Washington DC at 6 years old where he resided at 326 A street right behind the supreme Court building. He was mighty proud of that. He attended Gonzaga high School and went off to join the apprenticeship program in local 1590 to become a journeyman carpenter in 1954. When Charlie began his career in construction, one of his first jobs was putting ceramic panels of the side of gas stations. He soon learned that working outside with winter approaching wasn’t a full- time job. He decided to move into other fields of construction and started to do interior commercial construction. He began to work for a company named Hudson supply company in Washington DC and quickly excelled to Superintendent in charge of the entire construction division. After 37 years at Hudson Supply Company, he decided to take over the division and turn it into Rossi commercial Incorporated in the mid-1980s. After a successful career with Rossi Commercial, he decided to retire in 1993. During the mid-1950s he met Jacqueline Paquin at a dance with a campfire and they soon got married and had 6 children. Charles Rossi Jr, Deidre Demma, Christine Antram, Melody LaTour, Virginia Wiser and Marie Horton…Realizing a large family was on the way he saved his money and bought his first house in Vienna Virginia where he raised his family that now includes 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Charlie retired in 1993 and resided in Vienna Virginia before moving to Venice Florida in 1999 because of the wonderful weather. He lived in Venice Florida for approximately 18 years. Charlie Rossi was always the life of the party. He personality made everybody laugh and you could tell that he cared deeply about people's feelings, what they thought and always treated everyone with respect. Not everybody knew that he was a champion dart thrower and a damn good pool player. He loved participating in chili cook-offs around the country where he won seven states and came in 6th in the world. Charlie loved the Washington Redskins and held season tickets for nearly 50 years. He attended two super bowls when the Redskins we're at the top of their game. His favorite players were Sammy ball and Sonny Jurgensen. Mr. Rossi was also a member of the blue Knights motorcycle club. Him and his good friend Bob Paris rode all over the country representing law enforcement and enjoying the freedom on the road. His bike of choice was his full dresser Honda Goldwing 1000. And finally, he always enjoyed a good stiff drink and sharing his smile with everyone. Charlie Rossi you will be missed but your legacy will never die. Rest in peace.
