Charlotte Maxine Lemaster

June 19th, 1930 - August 13th, 2024

Charlotte Maxine Lemaster (Meritt)

Charlotte passed peacefully in her home with loved ones nearby.

She was born to James Marshall Meritt and Ethel Clare Haig, in Peru Nebraska, June 19, 1930. Her mother, sister Esther, and she moved over the years, to be near her father who suffered from Epilepsy and was in a V.A. hospital. Eventually ending back in Peru, she and Esther attended Peru State College for their teaching degrees. Charlotte loved to learn and came from a lineage of teachers.

In 1951, she met Robert Wayne Tarr. They married and had Nancy Dell in 1956. Bob was tragically killed in a car accident in 1959. Charlotte made the bold move to Colorado Springs in 1963, with her mother Ethel along for the ride. She lived in her home on Wynkoop Dr for just shy of 60 yrs. She taught fourth grade at Longfellow Elementary. She married Joe Lemaster in 1968. He had 2 children, Mark and Dana. Dana and Nancy were best friends at school and were excited to become sisters. Joe and Charlotte welcomed twins, Tamara Sue and Rex Marshall in 1969. She became a proud Grandmother to 8 grandchildren. Her family was the most treasured blessing to her. She lived every day for them.

She loved her friends and made time to help anytime needed! She loved to play and joke. She loved the mountains and picnics, anything to retreat to the beautiful Colorado Mountains! She had a special relationship with Jesus and acquainted herself with the message of the salvation of All! She loved bible study and teaching Paul’s message! Her favorite verses included Deut. 31:6, Isaiah 41:10, Joshua 1:9 and I Tim 4:10. She leaned on these heavily after the untimely death of her beloved Tammy! However, her inherent nature was a comic, very animated, and just fun loving! She taught us to use humor, practically, joy, and family as a way to continue God’s vision for our futures. She gave everyone inspiration to live better, be happier, and find the joy in life.

Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Nancy Tarr-Stanford, and Dana Lemaster-Parker; grandchildren, Karen Rowerdink-Therien (Brian), Morgan Mote (Titus), Nicholas Edwards, Lindsey Leiker (Joshua), Drew Lemaster, Chelsea Lemaster, Catelyn Lemaster, Cody Folk (Ellie); and her great-grandchildren, Baley James, Benjamin Alfred, Michael Alan, Kira Renee, Natalia Tamara, Ashton James, Robert Christian, Andrew Douglas, George Theodore, Evelyn Noelle, Charlotte Lea Rose, Sandi Suzanne, Piper Lynn, and Haisley May.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Meritt; mother Ethel Meritt; sister Esther Renner and Robert Renner; daughter Tamara Simone; son Rex Lemaster; son Mark Lemaster; and son in-law Rick Rowerdink.
