Forever in our Hearts
C. Judson Keating, affectionately known as Jud, passed away on June 30, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on July 22, 1937, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Clarence lived most recently in Melbourne, FL but had also live in Key West, FL, Nokomis, FL, Port Orchard, WA, Bremerton, FL.
Jud was a man of adventure, finding joy in both the open road and quiet moments at home. He loved cruising on his motorcycle and traveling across the states in his conversion van with his beloved wife, Elizabeth, whom he fondly called "Blue Eyes." Their travels created cherished memories that he treasured throughout his life. In his quieter hours, he found solace in wood carving, playing cards and dice games, and discovering new ways to make Elizabeth smile.
A proud American with deep roots in his Native American heritage, Jud participated in ceremonial gatherings and dances, honoring the legacy of his grandmother, Azubah (Sarah) May Chase, likely from the Mohegan tribe. He joined the Boy Scouts of America at the age of seven, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout just before his 18th birthday, an accomplishment that instilled in him valuable life lessons and skills he carried throughout his military career. Serving over 24 years in the Army, Marine Corps, and National Guard, Clarence was fully dedicated to his duty.
Jud had a zest for life, relishing delicious food, especially sweets, burgers, and chicken, often enjoyed in the company of family and friends while engaging in good conversations. He had a passion for Country Western music and delighted in educational shows about nature and animals. In his later years, he took to running marathons, particularly those that supported worthy causes.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Marion Keating; his brother, Richard Keating (FL); his children, Samantha Pinto (CO), Rebecca Pinto (VA), Sean Pinto (AL), and Bridget Nores (CA); his loving niece, Daun Dimery (RI), and his stepchildren, Debra Doss, Sharon Castillo, Beth Bartlett, Michael Newbrey, and Cindy Lou Thor. Clarence leaves behind grandchildren; Amber Pinto, Sarah Pinto, Nicholas Nores, Lucas Nores, step-grandchildren Sarah Cohen and Ryan Thor. Great grandchildren include Madison Pinto and Brinn Nores.
Jud’s love for nature led him to find peace on the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and in the embrace of ancient forests, grounding him in his roots. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
