Clarence Jeremiah Wright III was born on February 22, 1941 to his parents Clarence J. Wright, Jr. (deceased) and Sylvia Battle Wright (deceased) in Bridgeton, NJ. Clarence attended schools in New Jersey and graduated from Bridgeton High School in Bridgeton, NJ in 1959. Initially, he attended Wilberforce University in Ohio, and later attended other colleges in his pursuit of obtaining a degree in Business Administration. Clarence enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on February 1, 1962 and served his country until he was honorably discharged. Clarence lived between Denver and Philadelphia for many years. In January of 1970, he met his wife Marie in Philadelphia at Temple University. They settled in Denver, CO in the mid 1970’s, where he worked in the computer systems industry and pursued several entrepreneurial endeavors. Clarence enjoyed spending quality time reading, playing checkers and other board games with his grandchildren. He loved Jazz standards and was well known in the music community. Also known as “Sonny”, “Man With a Golden Heart” and “Boze”, Clarence will be remembered for his sense of humor, infectious laugh, his gift of gab and for being extremely passionate about education. He had a taste for the finer things in life and cared deeply for his friends and family. Clarence entered into eternal peace on November 10, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Marie; two daughters, Kimberly Durham and Kelli (Lonnie) Tate; seven grandchildren, Andre, Kia, Isaiah, Deleya, Kayla, Aaron and Corey; his uncle, Floyd Wright of Bridgeton, NJ; five aunts Betty King of Bridgeton, NJ, Emma Battle of Cheltenham, PA, Henrietta Cosby of Millville, NJ, Margaret Winchester of Bridgeton, NJ and Joanna Price of Bridgeton, NJ; his devoted cousin Edward Battle Sr. (Barbara) of Denver, CO; three brothers, Leroy Wright (Faye) of Laurel Springs, NJ, Jafar Abdul-Rauf (Zelda) of New Brunswick, NJ, Abdul-Azeem Ahmad (married) of Millville, NJ; one sister Eleanor (Eugene Sr.) Brice of Rosenhayn, NJ; 35 nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Bob Maddox of Springdale, MD and Julius Hudson of Denver, CO in addition to many other family members, friends and Masonic Lodge Brothers of Star in the East Lodge in Germantown, PA. A private memorial service will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Please join us for Clarence’s life celebration on November 23, 2013 at American Legion Post 87, 1427 Elmira St. Aurora, CO 80010, from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
