Colie "Buddy" Blease Martin
April 7th, 1943 - February 3rd, 2015
Colie Blease "Buddy" Martin Jr., 71, of Hopkins, South Carolina passed away February 3, 2015 at his home in Hopkins, South Carolina. Buddy was born on April 7, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Colie Blease Martin Sr. and Gladys Browder Martin. He was a great husband to his wife, a wonderful dad to his children, and an amazing grandfather to his grandchildren. A hard working man, he retired from Hardaway Concrete as a supervisor after 30 years. This culminated a 50 year career in the concrete and construction business. Buddy was reliable and a true friend. He enjoyed raising quarter horses and saddle breds. Buddy also liked to watch football. His favorites were the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Carolina Panthers, but he would pull for any team, depending on who they were playing. Buddy was very much a family man. He loved them with all his heart. The family dinners at Christmas, Thanksgiving and all other holidays were the times he cherished. Buddy is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Peggy Martin of Hopkins SC; his daughter, Kimberly Watson (Adam) of Hopkins SC; his son, Colie "Little Buddy" Martin III (Pam) of Hopkins SC; grandchildren, Adam Watson (Nicole) of Hopkins SC, Kristen Watson of Hopkins SC, Colie Blease Martin IV of Hopkins, Brent and Brandon Gilbert and Heather Turner. He is also survived by two great- grandchildren; Kamren Simmons of Hopkins SC and Kayden Watson of Hopkins. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Shriner Children's Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607 or at 1-800-241-GIFT, or to Camp Kemo, at http://palmettohealthfoundation.org. We Entrusted Colie Martin's Care To
Greenlawn Memorial Park
Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
