Cora Linnea Berglund, 103, formerly of Cloquet, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton. The daughter of Anders and Britta Lund, she was born in 1906 in Hisvala, Sweden. Cora immigrated with her parents to the United States in 1910 at the age of 3 ½ years of age and they settled near Cedar Lake in Carlton County. She married Leonard Berglund on March 18, 1926 in Cloquet. Cora loved her animals and living in the country on the family farm in Brevator Township. She enjoyed flowers, berry picking, gardening, crocheting, knitting, quilting and making bread. In 1976, Cora enjoyed her trip to Sweden where she visited her many relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; two sisters, Annie Glader and Ida Jaakola; four brothers, Sig, Andrew, Albert and Vernon Lund and three grandchildren, James Johnson, Penney Bong and Cheryl Limmer. Cora is survived by her five children, Dorothy (Robert) Bassett of Cloquet, Robert (Betty) Berglund of Cloquet, June Bong of Cloquet, Jeanette Johnson of Duluth and Russell (Jan) Berglund of Carlton; two sisters, Betty Swanson of Florida and Clara Jaakola of Cloquet; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held on Monday, January 4, 2010 in Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet followed by a luncheon in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cloquet. Memorials may be made to Inter-Faith Care Center.
