COY C. JONES WEST COLUMBIA: Graveside service with Full Military Honors, for Coy C. Jones, 83, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at Southland Memorial Gardens, officiated by Rev. Gary Lee Jones, Rev. Homer Jones and Rev. Johnny Jones. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mr. Jones, widower of Marie H. Jones, went to be with his Lord Monday, May 23, 2011. Born in Orangeburg, SC, he was a son of the late Gary E. Jones and Donie Crosby Jones. He was a member of Broad Acres Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was a U.S. Army Veteran, retiring after 24 years of service, in which he served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He also was retired from Bankers Trust. Mr. Jones enjoyed volunteer work in Missions and the Red Cross. Surviving are his daughters, Margit Mims of Singapore and Claudia Headen of Florence; son, George H. Jones of Orangeburg; sisters, Lorene Ayres of Olar and Miriam Jennings of Gaffney; brothers, Homer Jones of Columbus, GA, Gary Lee Jones of Marksville, LA; and Johnny L. Jones of Graceville, FL; also eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by brothers, James, Lloyd, Raymond and Guynell Jones; and sisters, Mary Lou Weeks and Ernestine Brant. Please sign online guest book at www.thompsonsfuneral.com
