Cynthia Lynn Shewmaker

WINTER HAVEN - Cynthia Lynn Shewmaker, died September 2, 2015 of a sudden and unexpected massive cranial hemorrhage. Born May 4, 1960, in Port Washington, WI. She grew up in Jackson, WI and Oakfield, WI and graduated from Oakfield High School. She attended three years at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design during which time she met her future husband. She worked both free-lance and as an employee but most of her life effort was engaged in Bible teaching, oftentimes having several teaching projects going simultaneously. Three of her employers were Friday Canning Factory, Ebenezer Nursing Facility and Hobby-Lobby, where she was head of the home accent department in Austell, GA for several years. Cynthia was both an artist and a home decor designer. Within the recent past, she had begun teaching art as well. She often worked in conjunction with her brother, Scott, who is also accomplished in several fields and they tended to energize each other's creativity. Surviving are her husband, James Shewmaker, her parents, LaRue and Jane Hansen, her two brothers, Steve Hansen and Scott Hansen, her sister, Beth Hansen, several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. She enjoyed a very close and loving relationship with a large extended family and with many members of her husband's family as well. She has a host of friends in many states having worked hand-in-hand with her husband in several churches. She had been working since May 2012 with her husband at the Inman Park church of Christ in Winter Haven, Fl. where she was actively involved in several teaching projects including children's classes, small group classes, one on one studies and evangelistic classes. There will be a visitation for friends and family at the Oak Ridge Funeral Home at 2425 Havendale Blvd in Winter Haven on September 10 at 10:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00. Because of the medical expenses and the air flight expenses involved in the events leading up to her death in lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union.
