SANDY RUN, S.C. - Cyril David Allen, Jr., 77, entered the kingdom of God on Saturday, February 4, 2012. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 5, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Thompson Funeral Home, 200 State Street in West Columbia. A funeral service will be held at Sandy Run Lutheran Church at 2 p.m., on Monday, February 6. A private interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. C.D. is survived by his wife of 52 years Carmen Fore Allen; his daughter Susan Allen Jennings and her husband Michael Jennings; his son Cyril David Allen, III (Chip); and Kathy Allen Robinson and her husband Ed Robinson. He was predeceased by his daughter Rosalind Renee Allen. C.D. is also survived by six beloved grandchildren including Rockwell Allen Baker and his wife Elizabeth Jenkins Baker, Jenna Robinson, Brittany Allen, David Allen, Joseph Sadler and Ainsley Robinson Johnston and her husband John Johnston as well as his great grandchildren Aiden Allen, Braylon Allen, Oliver Johnston and John Johnston, Jr. He was one of nine children and was pre-deceased by his brother Johnny Bruce Allen and is survived by Jerry Allen, Sandra Edwards, Jackie Hatchell, Thelma Allen, Linda Harris, Donnie Ray Allen and Ronnie Allen. C.D. was born September 17, 1934, in Florence, S.C. He attended schools in Florence as well as the University of South Carolina. C.D. had a successful professional career which included founding and owning C.D. Allen Realty of West Columbia. He was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and devoted member at Sandy Run Lutheran Church. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sandy Run Lutheran Church, 1927 Old State Road, Swansea, SC 29160 or the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
