Czeslawa Makowski, 92, of Bradenton, FL, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on March 28, 2017. Czeslawa Makowski was born December 20, 1924 in Olszewo, Poland, to Antoni and Marianna Chojnowski. She was married to Jan Makowski since 1946, whom she survived. Her surviving sibling is Teresa Bedranowska. She is survived by her four children: Krystyna Herard of Oxford, MA; Jerzy Makowski of Bradenton, FL; Tadeusz Makowski of Grafton, MA; and Ella Kamienowski of St. Johns, FL. Czeslawa had survived her eldest son, Eugenusz ""Geniek"" Makowski of Poland. She has left behind 9 grandchildren: Iwona Makowski, entrepreneur; Agniezka Makowski; Michael Niksa, former Marine and veteran of Desert Storm; Jack Kamienowski, entrepreneur; JoAnna Ahren, Registered Nurse; Paul Makowski, HR Specialist; Kasia Ross, Registered Nurse; Jerry Makowski, CPA and Financial Director; and Dr. Crystal Makowski, VP of a company. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren with an additional great-grandchild on the way. As a young lady, Czeslawa survived World War II under the protection by her father. Czeslawa came to Worcester, MA from Poland in the early 1970s and was an active member of Worcester's Polish community for over 30 years before relocating to Bradenton, FL. She was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Worcester, MA. Czeslawa was a woman of a deep Catholic faith and demonstrated her strong Christian heart by being a great friend to all who were in need. She was lovingly known as ""Mamusia"" (Mommy) by non-family members and revered as a living angel by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Czeslawa is admired as a strong and feisty woman that was committed to her family and friends. She enjoyed visiting her friends in Worcester, while walking across the city to attend mass, as well as playing cards, attending family functions, and cooking traditional Polish meals. Czeslawa was an avid Golden Girls fan and her grandchildren have fond memories of cuddling with her during episodes. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite past-times included: watching them play, playing the board game Trouble, chiding them, providing wisdom, and cooking for them. She loved small children and, even towards the end of her life, she could not resist holding and cooing to babies. Czeslawa will truly be missed by her family and friends. She was the foundation of the family and a pillar of her community. We know she has transitioned from being a living angel to the guardian angel of the family.
