Dana Craig Merritt, Jr. - Gaston - A Celebration of Life service for Dana C. Merritt, Jr., 31, of Gaston, will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at Fish Hatchery Road Church of God, 3249 Fish Hatchery Rd., Gaston, SC 29053. Bishop Wendell Hendrix and Mr. Shawn Iriel will officiate. Interment in the church cemetery will follow the service. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service (2:00 PM) in the church sanctuary. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. On February 24, 2018, the Lord took Dana home. Born in West Columbia, he was the son of Angela Tedder Sharpe (Billy Ray Sharpe) and Dana Craig Merritt. Dana was loved by everyone; he enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be remembered for his sparkling eyes, his beautiful smile and his laugh. Dana is survived by his loving parents; fiancée, Melissa Hendrix and her two children, Caleb and Aylissa; sisters, Carrie and Casey Sharpe; brother, Christopher Merritt; nephews, Cason Veasey and Levi Jordan; grandmother, Effie Tedder; grandfather, Dana Merritt; great-grandmother, Lillie Hall; uncles, Troy and Randy Tedder, and Kyle Merritt and Mike Sharpe; aunts, Cindy Merritt and Donna Adams, Debbie Sharpe,Bonnie Adams and Janet Stephens; and a large and loving extended family. Dana is also survived by innumerable friends; (too many to count). Dana was predeceased by his grandfather, A.L. Tedder; grandmother, Mary Lou Maldonado. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fish Hatchery Road Church of God.
