Daniel James Gardner, Jr., age 70, of Port Charlotte, died on September 23, 2006. He was born in Charlotte, NC on November 17, 1935, and moved to Port Charlotte 4 years ago from Sarasota. Mr. Gardner was a copywriter and advertising executive for Arcade Lithographing in Sarasota for 7 years before he retired. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Gastonia, NC. Surviving family members include his wife Barbara of Port Charlotte; son Daniel James Gardner III of Sarasota; daughters Susan Josephson of St. Petersburg, Jeanne Gardner-Metarko of Fishtail, MT, Beth Schmidt of Port Charlotte, and Michelle Gardner of Sarasota; brothers Edward C. Gardner of Gastonia, NC, and Joseph Kitt Gardner of Colombia, SC; sister Cathy Gardner Epperson of Clover, SC; and grandchildren Brandon Josephson, and Hannah and Timothy Metarko. The family requests memorial donations be made to Easter Seals Southwest Florida, 350 Braden Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34243. A memorial service will be held at a later date in North Carolina.
