Darell O'Neall
November 16th, 1933 - May 2nd, 2018
Darrell Dee ” Pinky” O’Neall, age 84, passed from this earth on May 2, 2018, peacefully, in his home, in Colorado Springs. Darrell was born in Bellingham, Washington on November 16, 1933. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther V. and Folda Eleanor Tompton O’Neall and his siblings, younger brother Brian Curtis. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Christa K. O’Neall and their five children Kevin(wife Ellen), Michael (Wife Nan), Darren, Christopher (wife Christina) and Kirsten O’Neall. As a young boy, his family moved to Tacoma, Washington where Darrell graduated High School and then joined the United States Army Signal Corps in 1953. He served his country proudly at duty stations all over the world, including 2 combat tours in Viet Nam where he received several medals including the Bronze Star. He retired after 30 years of service in 1982 at the rank of Sergeant Major. Settling in Colorado Springs, he continued to serve his country spending the next 12 years in Civil Service, programming and tracking satellites. He retired as a GS12. He was a long-time member of the Germania Club, as well as a Mason. He loved Grand Prix Racing, Broncos Football and forever had projects building RC helicopters and cars. He was always available to his children and grand-children and always ready to help a friend in need. He was a wonderful and generous Father, Uncle, Friend and Husband. “Pinky” will be greatly missed by his family and friends. At Ease Sergeant Major, at ease.
