Darrell "Butch" Charles Swanson
March 11th, 1949 - January 12th, 2024
Darrell Charles Swanson “Butch”, 74, of Barnum, passed away with family by his side on January 12, 2024 in Essentia Health St Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. Butch joined the Air Force right out of high school and served his country for 4 years that included a tour in Vietnam. He was a member of the Carlton V.F.W. Post #2962. He was a life long member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Butch enjoyed many activities including golfing, bowling, deer hunting, fishing, volunteering to keep the lawn manicured for the Blackhoof Valley Community Center. He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved the Vikings and Twins. Butch was an accomplished drummer but most of all he loved cutting and sawing lumber at his sawmill and working with wood in general. Visitation: 11:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service begins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. A luncheon will follow the service in the Fireside room. A private family inurnment will take place at Sandy Lake Cemetery at a later date.
