Darryl Haven Hendrickson, 60 of Floodwood died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 19, 2013 in St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. He was born Oct. 17, 1952 in Duluth to Leo and Veronica Hendrickson. Darryl graduated from Floodwood High School in 1971. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad from 1975 until 1982 and then for the Wisconsin Central Railroad until 1985. Since 1985 he had his own firewood business. He enjoyed being out in the woods and splitting firewood by hand. Darryl was a member of New Life Community Church in Floodwood. Even though he enjoyed all sports, including football and basketball, his greatest joy came from playing, coaching, and watching baseball. Above all else, Darryl put his family first. His children were everything to him and he enjoyed every minute he had, whether it was playing a sport with them or just watching them, he was very proud of them. Darryl was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his life partner, Theresa "Trish" Polich of Floodwood; his two children, Dylan and Honna Hendrickson, both of Floodwood; brothers, Bruce of Carlton, Tom of Minneapolis, Kent (Brenda) of Duluth, and Shawn (Debra) of Floodwood; sisters, Pam Hendrickson of Minneapolis and Shelley (Sam) Claiborne of Coon Rapids; sister-in-law, Nancy Hendrickson of Cloquet, Theresa's parents, Stanley and Edna Polich of Greaney, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services were held on Saturday, January, 26, 2013 in New Life Community Church in Floodwood. A time of lunch and fellowship followed in the church fellowship hall. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
