David W. Allen, 68 passed away on December 5, 2021, in Sarasota, FL. He was born May 16, 1953, to David B. Allen and Harriet S. Allen in Atlantic City, NJ and resided in Laurel Springs, NJ the majority of his life prior to moving to Nokomis, FL. He began his career with the purchase of Tower Radio in Elmer, NJ and continued as co-owner and operator of CPC in Philadelphia, PA and Channel 53 in Atlantic City, NJ along with Harry Jenny, retiring in 2000. He married his wife Paula (nee Bortell) in 1987, and created a blended family with their 6 kids. David enjoyed motorcycles, sailing, and spending time on and near the water. He could often be found at Pop’s Sunset Grill having beers and conversation with friends. David is preceded in death by parents David B. Allen and Harriet S. Allen, Brother Charles Forney, and stepson Robert J. Halverson II He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Paula J. Allen, sisters Catherine Fox (nee Allen) and Susan G. Wrobleski (nee Allen) his children Charles Allen, Samantha Lynn Allen and David W. Allen II, his stepchildren Christi-Ann Halverson and Richard Halverson, and grandchildren Summer Morgan Duchesne (nee Halverson) and Jayden Wade Smith, great granddaughter Alina Duchesne, and 1 niece and 4 nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life held at 11:30AM on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Pop’s Sunset Grill, 112 Circuit Rd. Nokomis, FL 34275. All family and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please donate to your local food bank as David loved celebrating the holidays and sharing with those in need.
