David M. Fries, 78 years of age, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, November 25, 2023, in Parker, Colorado. Born to Wayne and Alpha (Guthrie) Fries on December 28, 1944 in Holdrege, Nebraska, David was the third child among a lively family of eight, residing in the communities of Axtell, Holdredge and Elm Creek. A student of Axtell High School, David’s character was deeply rooted in Midwestern resilience and dedication. He was the loving father of four sons: James, Ron, Steve, and Stu. A highly skilled automotive mechanic, he dedicated many years of his life to servicing the community at the Co-Op in Axtell, and later operating his own automotive shop ‘Dave’s Repair and Service’ in Franklin, Nebraska for almost two decades. After a remarkable career in automotive service, the golden years of David's life saw him and his wife, Judy, making a new home in Tucson, Arizona, where they lived for nearly 20 years. Earlier this year, David relocated to Parker, Colorado. David loved spending time at the racetrack and never let a NASCAR race slip by. He found joy in simple walks and engaging in talks with passers-by. A sports lover, he also looked forward to watching baseball, football, and basketball games on television. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy (Abraham); his parents, Wayne and Alpha; and his brother, Lester. Those left to remember his vibrant life include his sons, James and his wife Susan of Oxford, NE; Ron of Oxford, NE; Steve and his wife Patti of Parker, CO; and Stu of Grand Island, NE, along with six siblings, eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy. In accordance with David's wishes, the family will hold a private ceremony, with immediate family in attendance.
