David G. Grimes, age 79, of Venice, Florida, passed away on July 7, 2008. He was born on January 13, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a Mechanical Engineer with Fruehauf Corporation in Van Wert, Ohio for 30 years and after retirement he moved to Venice in 1994. He was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, American Legion Post # 159 in Venice and a veteran of the US Army and Marine Corp and served during the Korean Conflict. He leaves behind his wife 58 years, Margaret; sons, Brian D. of Lansing, Michigan, Eric J. of Boone, NC; a brother, Bruce of Michigan and a sister, Maureen Gonter of Atlanta, Georgia and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Mark David Grimes in May of this year and a sister, Doris Summerville. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, July 14, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
