David Martin Houck
February 13th, 1983 - July 30th, 2024
Gone too soon.
David Martin Houck of Durham, NC, was born in Easley, SC to David and Darlene Houck. He passed unexpectedly on July 30th, 2024 at the age of 41.David started his career in networking while attending Midlands Technical College and continued on into network security at Cisco. He furthered his education and earned his bachelor's degree at Champlain College. Always eager to learn and work on the latest technologies, he excelled in his career, going on to become an author and a mentor to others.David was passionate about Harley Davidson motorcycles and has owned several bikes over the past two decades. He has taken trips all across the country, visiting parks, rallies, and friends along the way. He served as director of Bull City HOG Chapter 4040 where he made many friends and served his community. He also ran his own website, Riding Secure, where he spoke about motorcycle safety, network security and raised money for charity.In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Kevin (Carrie) Houck of Lexington, SC, and three nieces, Leighann, Katie, and Emily Houck. He is also survived by his best friend, Julianna Houck, as well as his two cats, Kurt and Oswald.He is predeceased by his grandparents, Melvin and Joann Houck, and Joe and Juanita Merck, as well as aunts, Elayne Chastain and Valerie Merck, and uncles, Preston Merck and Daniel Houck.A service will be held to celebrate David's life at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd, Columbia, SC on Monday, August 12th, with visitation at noon and a service afterward at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.
