Dawn Marie Carpenter

Dawn Marie Carpenter was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 28, 1965 to parents, Dick and Jan Carpenter.She passed away April 12, 2021 at age 55 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.After graduating from Northwest High School in Omaha, Nebraska, she married Jeff Kempkes and was married for twenty-three years until they divorced. Together they had two daughters: Kara Marie Reedy (Kempkes) and Kali Anne Kempkes.She moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado with her family in April of 1992.Currently, she completed ten years at Archdale Eye Care as a billing specialist.Dawn loved Harry Potter which she shared with her youngest daughter. Music of all types, particularly country and Garth Brooks, was her favorite. You could always find her wearing purple and in her flip-flops (even in the snow). She was always representing the Nebraska Cornhuskers and would defend them at all costs. In her free time, she could be found reading or coloring in her digital coloring books. She also enjoyed her bowling and dart leagues. She always made it a point to show everyone how much she loved them, and you could always count on her. Dawn was infamous for her "OMG" eye rolls! But above all, her mom and girls were her best friends in life and did everything together. Lindsey was the light of her life and she cherished every moment she had with her. We will always love and miss her dearly. Till we see you again, Mommy.Dawn is survived by her parents, Jan Carpenter and Dick Carpenter of Colorado; daughters, Kara Reedy (Kempkes) and Kali Kempkes, both of Colorado; granddaughter, Lindsey of Colorado; former husband, Jeff Kempkes of Colorado; beloved family and many friends.In Honor of Marguerite Glover and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).Visitation, 1:00PM-3:00PM, Saturday, April 17, 2021, The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.Attendees will be capped at 100 people.
