Debra was born on January 9, 1952, in Houston, TX, to William Lee, Jr. and Betty Jean Gary Merchant. Debra's journey led her to Haines City in 2017, where she embraced a new chapter of life after relocating from Pensacola, FL. She devoted four decades of her life to shaping young minds as a teacher before her well-deserved retirement in 2017. A devout member of Gateway Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL, Debra found solace and strength in her faith. Beyond her professional and religious endeavors, Debra found joy in simple pleasures. She had a fondness for shopping and her thoughtfulness extended to sending cards, a gesture that allowed her to maintain meaningful connections and brighten the days of those she cared about. She was preceded in death by her parents, and she leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister; Joni Marie Merchant of Haines City, FL; brother, Ronnie Carl Merchant of Haines City, FL; and her close friend, Alice Bush of Pensacola, FL.
