Dennis James Monos

November 16th, 1966 - July 24th, 2024

On Wednesday, July 24th, Dennis James Monos, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend left this earthly world at the young age of 57 in Tampa, FL.  He fought his illnesses for three years.

Dennis was born on November16, 1966 in Loraine, Ohio. He and his family moved to Lehigh Acres, FL while Dennis was in grade school. He started to participate in all kinds of sports, excelling in baseball.  He and his two younger brothers collected baseball cards, put on concerts for family and neighbors, went fishing, rode bikes and just enjoyed being active and outdoors. Dennis often talked of his great childhood.

Dennis was loved by the girls from the time he went on to Alva Middle School, and then on to High School. He had piercing green eyes that would turn brown if he was sad or mad.  He had such a passionate nature and vibe which he carried throughout his life.  Dennis became interested and enjoyed all types of music. He played the saxophone and was a drum major in Riverdale High School’s marching band in Fort Myers, FL.  He also sang in the school chorus and the church choir. He loved to perform. Dennis also had some moves on the dance floor!

Dennis enlisted in the United States Airforce after high school. He was extremely proud of his service and to be a Airforce veteran.

He liked golf, bowling and fishing.

Dennis enjoyed computers. He built, fixed, and played games on them with his sons and friends. He was also an avid Fantasy Football fan.  He was a Sci-Fi enthusiast and loved any movie, game or show that included dragons, knights, Vikings and the like. He and his wife enjoyed singing to each other and playing board games. He had various jobs throughout adulthood. Mostly in management.

Dennis left behind his wife of 23 years, Cynthia (Frank)  Monos.  Children, Bradley Cannon Wade (34), Ryan James Cordes (deceased) and Brittany Alexander Cordes-Fernandes (28) and her husband Michel Fernandes (31).  Grandchildren Aubrey Marie Wade (4)  and Luka Ryan Fernandes (20 months).

Dennis’s loving parents were  Dennis G. Monos and Carol (Unk) Monos. Both are deceased.  His Step Mother, Cheryl Monos is also deceased. His younger brothers, Andy Monos  (wife Karen Kolhepp Monos) and Tim Monos.  Step brothers Steve Knutson (wife Kim Knutson) and Jack Knutson. Nephews, Andrew Monos and James Monos.   Brother in law, Neil Frank, Jr and Father in law, Neil Frank Sr.  Long time best friends, Neil Horram, Arthur St. Cyr and Jamie Miller. Along with Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He also left behind the family dog, Annabell and turtle, Michael.

Dennis was a beautiful, intelligent, charismatic, funny, great man. A very loving, compassionate and kind soul. He was always full of ideas and dreams. He loved his family immensely. Always giving complements and showing his softer side. His laugh was explosive. He would give you one of his smiles when you didn’t have one and he always looked at the brighter side and tried to make sense of it all. He had a beautiful booming voice. Everyone enjoyed him shouting  “OH YEAH”!  It became a staple in our home.  When you met Dennis, you could never forget him. He will be very much missed by all who knew and loved him.

We will always carry his memory in our hearts. Good night my gentle giant.

Dear Dennis, First I would like to say, for the last 3 years, I have been at 757 at least once a week, you were sick, & not there for lots of the last 3 years, but, you ALWAYS found a way to come home!! This time, you didn't, and it leaves me, and others so very sad. YOU! are truly one of the kindest men I have ever met! Your heart was huge! And you showed everyone you cared about just how big it was! You welcomed, along with Cynthia, not just me, but my son, and my dog, and instantly made us part of your family! And for that, I will forever be grateful! When you were home, the mood was different, more fun, more laughter! You were an EXPERT at making people smile or laugh even when they didn't want to! Everytime I walked through that front door, I was greeted with, OH YEAH!! It was the BEST! you were so kind, you were so funny, & you could cook! 😀 best chicken parm I ever had! You were just a special guy to all of us! I prayed every single time you were gone, and you always came home! But this time, GOD wanted you to come home! And I can't compete with that! So here I am telling you what I feel is most important, and what I feel in my heart, I loved you, my boy's loved you! My dog loved you! He layed right behind you on top of that couch! I am so very grateful and BLESSED! To have had you as a friend, and as someone who became family to me and my boy's! YOU will ALWAYS be missed! I hope you are hanging out with Ryan. ❤️ YOU will NEVER be forgotten! And I know I will see ya again some day!! Until then,... OH YEAH!!! ❤️, Kelly
